Homemade mini gingerbread house kits. After amassing so many cute gingerbread cookies cutters and inspiration, it was about time to create some sweet little kits to give ones to assemble themselves. But filled with delicious cookies and tasty royal icing.
With roasted pineapple and apple pie I accidentally created another delicious pie recipe from using what I had on hand. It was a bit of an experiment on pairing apple and pineapple together. I figured that apple often accompanies most fruit and berries well and accents not overpowers. Also they both have the word ‘apple’ in them. So there’s that.
In my opinion these make for a rather perfect chocolate sugar cookie. Also if you hate waiting for your cookies – like me -they do not have to be chilled.
Magnolia syrup is made from the beautiful, but quickly discarded petals of the magnolia flower and tastes like a ginger infused simple syrup. With only three ingredients it is super easy and quick to make. And requires surprisingly few petals to make a small batch.
There is nothing quite like the feeling of getting something from nothing or at least having less waste to compost. I always feel like the peels and cores can amount to a fair amount. So I was pretty pleased when I was able to successfully make a delicious apple jelly from nothing but the peels, cores and seeds (often leftover from making apple butter).
These rum glazed, delightfully spicy hermit bar cookies are unlike anything else! Somehow an amazing cross between a cookie, gingerbread, and biscotti.
Cream of broccoli or broccoli cheddar soup was always a fave growing up for me. And since I have two kids who actually like broccoli, I have been searching for an amazing make at home recipe. I would try a few, find them underwhelming, ultimately get frustrated and not revisit the process again until the next winter. Eventually I found myself making it a mission to make a great recipe, because I could never quite find ‘the one.’ This however is THE ONE. The exact one. My wait for the perfect make at home broccoli soup is over. And the repeated recipe testing until perfect has paid off!
Homemade lemon curd. This recipe came about when we happily found ourselves with a double bag of lemons and half a dozen yolks leftover from a previous baking project. I wanted a curd that used up my excess yolks and not whole eggs. The deliciousness that was born from this was amazing!
Maple Pecan baked brie has been a go to appetizer since the first time I made it. It’s wonderful, not to mention wonderfully easy. Even back when the idea of making an appetizer would throw me into a cold sweat, this maple pecan brie stepped up to save the day time and again.
