When Freshii offered us dinner (for a collaboration) to draw awareness to some of their local North Vancouver locations, I knew it would be good fit as I was already a fan. And not just a fan of not making dinner!

Freshii burritos have already been my go to, when I would find myself famished and in the Mall at Park Royal’s food court. And the Hubster is a regular at the Freshii on Main St for their salads come the lunch hour. 

So when I learned of the new Freshii location in Lower Lonsdale on Esplanade (next to IGA) and how it was just a hop, skip and a jump from dance lessons. Dance lessons that just happen to end at Monday’s dinner hour. I was on board for dinner out. I already knew the Hubster and I loved their healthy menu options, but I was curious to see how the girl’s would respond.

Making Our Way to Dinner

So we walked over on a sunny evening, after ballet and met hubby on his way home from work. This Freshii location had lovely, bright decor and a few tables at store front – which is where we found him sitting! 

I was unfamiliar with the app for ordering, but after a few fumbles – probably mostly due to the fact that I didn’t understand that it is set up to order more single meals for one, than the entire family at once, I can safely say I am a pro now. The Hubster will be taking advantage of being able to save time and order lunch ahead now, that it is all set up! You can definitely walk in and order at the counter, like everyone else did while we were there, but using the app allows you to gain points towards a free meal (and also how we were compensated for this post)!

The Food

Let’s get down to business – What Did We Eat!

The Hubster – got his usual, The Fiesta Salad with Chicken and a Berry Flavoured Sparkling Water. He likes this combo enough to not even glance at the menu and often remembers his lunchtime salad enough to mention to me at the end of the day! 

Senior daughter – opted for the Cheesy Chicken Quesadilla kids meal with a Strawberry Banana Smoothie. And post dance they were gone in a flash! There was not a drop of smoothie left, but she is a smoothie kid through and through. I liked how much chicken was in the quesadilla and that she was happy and full. She is not one to complain, but if she doesn’t like something – she is going to push it around her plate and claim she is not hungry. So with no crumb left behind it was a hit.

Youngest daughter – our resident Little Miss Picky went with the Kids Cheesy Chicken Quesadilla as well. There is no a surprise there. I could have put money on her choosing that before she even looked at the menu. And she ordered the biggest Ginger Ale to wash it down with. Arguably she found the least healthy thing in the establishment to drink, but we all have our talents I suppose!! And other than the moment where she went and sat at another table, complaining that no one was being nice to her (someone, probably her mother, said she needed to share her large Ginger Ale), she happily ate her dinner as well. 

I, myself, ordered the Tex Mex Burrito. My love of tex mex had me at it’s title and the fact it included avocado got me doing my happy avocado dance. Yes avocado makes me happy. And I personally really like that it is avocado and not guacamole, as that is my personal preference. I am not a super ‘saucy’ person, so for my tastes it has just the right amount of flavourful sauce to burrito ratio. I appreciate that it uses brown rice and a whole wheat tortilla. It also turns out to be delightfully filling, as my husband who finished it off for me will attest to!

I also got, wait for it, a Freshii Green Smoothie!!! For anyone who knows me – I am not smoothie girl. Never have been. I would rather eat the exact same ingredients, than drink them. So when I say I really enjoyed this smoothie – I am pretty impressed with myself – and I think that should mean it’s a pretty good smoothie! I could see me grabbing something like this if I was going to be driving somewhere and needed something that was fairly hands free. I also delighted myself with making my family try something that was so intensely green and the shenanigans that ensued!!!

The Location 

Freshii – 2, 180 W. Esplanade, North Vancouver 

The staff was super friendly and helpful. I always appreciate when someone goes above and beyond. The space was wonderfully clean, including the bathroom and the food and ingredients were super fresh, delicious and made quickly.

This will definitely not be the last time we grab a bite at this location post ballet or any other time we want a quick and healthy meal (or snack). Like say for a mother daughter dinner and movie (hello movie theatre across the street) or for a picnic to go! Waterfront Park, just across the train tracks, with it’s large expanses of grass and views is hard to beat for a sunny meal outdoors, with the help of the conveniently located Freshii!! Also think of all the money you could save if you ate BEFORE grocery shopping next door?! Basically it’s a great location with recreation centre, entertainment, shopping, transit and water all close by!
