Kids Grad Lollipops = Cap and Gown Graduation Lollipops

Every year I like to challenge myself to come up with some new and cute, but fun and edible way for my daughter and her classmates to celebrate year end. Our final days of grade 2 turned into a bumpy ending and most non necessities had to go. But because of our fight to get thru the year, despite unforeseen challenges, I also felt all the more compelled to celebrate.grad lollipops

I knew it had to be amazingly simple, and I mean we are talking less than 30 minutes of time, simple. So I found some graduation cap stickers at Micheals that fit the end of year theme. They were detailed cloth grad hat stickers with a tiny tassel and they were adorable. And since we had a plethora of (a Costco sized container to be exact) lollipops left (and we may actually never see the bottom of that tub). I figured put them together and what an easy, yet cute way to wave goodbye to grade 2. I grabbed a square of black felt for the ‘gowns’ and some cute summery tie on tags from Micheals dollar bins and we were set to go!

These Graduation Lollipops required:

Individually wrapped lollipops
3-D graduation cap stickers
1 large or 2 small sheets of black felt
Tie on tags (or twist ties)

Optional:
A display box –
We have a small shoebox wrapped in gift paper, that we have used a skewer to poke holes thru the lid for lollipops to push through and stand upright. We have now used the same box several times for these sort of lollipop projects.

Finished lollipop seeking adventure.

Step 1:
Personalize tags (this was Peyton’s job). Note this is best done before tying onto the lollipops.

Step 2:
Measure and cut felt into rectangular pieces that overlap once wrapped around the lollipop sick or base.

Step 3:
Twist the felt around the stick at the base of the lollipop and secure with the tag by tying string tightly.

Step 4:
Stick a graduation cap sticker on the top of each lollipop for its hat. This again was Peyton’s job.

Step 5:
Use sharp skewer to poke holes in the top of a shoe box (covered in wrapping paper if desired) and insert lollipop sticks standing up in box.

Step 6:
Wonder why you ever attempted anything harder in the past and decide lollipops can be your new thing for every event!!!
