We are always looking for small changes we can implement into our routines to make better, greener choices. So when I first picked up one of these Peggalish Bamboo Travel Cups I was sold by how lightweight it was. Meaning I could keep it in bag and not really notice the added bulk. Then I tried it out and was delighted with the warmth of the cup and lack of taste transfer to my beverage. I generally hate the plastic or metal taste given off by traditional travel mugs. I have a few ceramic ones, but they only last so long, are heavy and of course breakable. These seemed like a welcome option. Continue reading Reusable Bamboo Cups→
Now that autumn is here and the cooler weather has returned, so have the schedules! Dance, homework and work deadlines, classes and routine, it all comes rushing back. So, I thought what better time to share 5 of my all time favourite, go to slow cooker meals! Continue reading My Top 5 Favourite Slow Cooker Meals→
Vancouver summer smoke. This summer, we avoided the outside world for at least week before we headed to the water front to see for ourselves the extent of the smoke that had descended on Vancouver from BC’s out of control wildfires. Continue reading The Day With The Smoke and The Balloons→
Oyster art. Because maybe you are like us and like to bring a little of the beach home with you. Maybe you are like my self and use discernment for a special little piece of sea glass here or there. Or perhaps you are more like my youngest and it’s as much as your pockets can hold (and those of your fellow beach goers that you enlist to carry even more). Either way we like to have a summer project when our two families get together with the cousins for a week in the summer. This year it was in Powell River and we found a beach in our travels covered with the most interesting leftovers of oyster shells and inspiration hit. A great way to get excited for school is to celebrate it and we like to do that with our annual back to school cakes! Sometimes kids are super excited for back to school and sometimes super nervous and well sometimes down right ardent that they do not want to go. We have been through them all. Sometimes it’s the kids being excited and sometimes me dreading it. Sometimes the reverse. Of course kindergarten is always a little more special and nerve racking too. But one thing we have consistently done for the past several years is to celebrate the milestone with a BACK TO SCHOOL CAKE. Cake makes everything better.
Peach Pie. This is it. THIS IS THE ONE. This is my very favourite pie recipe. A recipe I can make from memory now. And the one that changed how I felt about pie. Also the one that quite possibly prompted me to start a blog. The one that I still remember the first time my mother-in-law ever made it for me. This is glorious, perfect pie.
Blackberry Cinnamon Buns. Yup, it’s a thing. Well at least it is now! It’s hard to believe cinnamon buns could be improved upon. But I promise you that fresh blackberries take already amazing cinnamon buns to another level. Something about the sweet and tart fruit and it’s texture that marries perfectly with a cinnamon bun and kind of blows your mind. Continue reading Blackberry Cinnamon Buns→
