This delightful apple crisp has the perfect fruit to topping ratio for my liking. Meaning it is not too heavy handed or soupy on the fruit base, and every bite gets fair billing of topping and fruit. And the topping is delightfully crunchy thanks to the rolled oats and chopped pecans. And crisped up by the butter and brown sugar.
A simple sunflower topped cake was an easy choice for a fall cake. Sunflower because it’s our Youngest’s current favourite flower and because it is incredibly easy and forgiving to pipe.
Cranberry cinnamon buns are a fantastic way to use up that leftover cranberry sauce. They are delicious with that sweet and tart flavour and just a hint of ginger from the sauce. And nothing like making something delicious, instead of leftovers going to waste!
Roasted tomato sauce is a staple for me. Life is better when there is some of this pasta sauce in the freezer! Somewhere, many years ago, what started from a recipe, evolved into this delightful pasta sauce as it is today. Something I just make. But in an effort to create recipes for my girls to use and have themselves one day, I have gladly made the effort to photograph and write down my methods into a simple recipe.
Amazing, simple and delicious pickles. We have been tweaking and perfecting this garlic free dill pickle for the past couple years. They were delicious to begin with, but now they are perfection!
Easy, peasy lemonade! Make a quick, refreshing glass of lemonade without the need of a simple syrup. My youngest loves lemonade. Especially on a hot day. But I rarely have simple syrup on hand. So rather than create a grainy glass of lemonade or a whole jug, and a sore hand from squeezing lemons. I have found an easy way to just whip up a single serving in glass.
Warm weather means cool down drinks. This easy iced tea is especially refreshing! It’s great for an after school pick me up, picnic or just because. And with a fancy drink enthusiast for a daughter, I have been making her this iced tea for all of the above or no reason at all.
I am usually a purest when it comes to summer fruit pies, jams and such. One fruit and one fruit only! But in an effort to try new things and never miss out on something delicious. I tried mixing the remaining blackberries, blueberries and peaches I had leftover after a weekend of canning. And it was so good! So good in fact, I might just have been (somewhat) converted into a multiple fruit kind of gal, because I have been thinking about this pie ever since I made it!
I grew up with baking powder biscuits as a staple, as did a lot of families. They are rather perfect for any time of day. Baking powder biscuits are equally good slathered in butter and jam, with tea or coffee, as they are accompanying a large pot of soup on a cold night.
